Hunger Relief in Florida: The Need and Our Plan

Food insecurity touches families in every corner of Florida—including working households, seniors, veterans, and military families. For a new foundation like ours, addressing hunger is one of the most direct and immediate ways to help. The Need Many families are just one unexpected expense away from having to choose between groceries and other essentials. Hunger affects not only physical health, but children's ability to learn and parents' ability to work. Our Plan Hunger relief is at the center of our 2026 goals. As we launch, our Give Hope and meals initiatives aim to:Provide 5,000 meals to families facing food insecurity Partner with local food banks and churches for efficient distribution Connect families with longer-term resources for food securityWe want to be clear: this work is planned, not yet completed. We are sharing our intentions openly so that our community can hold us accountable—and join us—as we begin. Learn more about our hunger relief cause.

Our Private Foundation Model and Commitment to Transparency

We want supporters to understand exactly how The Giving Legacy is structured, because transparency is one of our core values. What "Private Foundation" Means The Giving Legacy is a 501(c)(3) private foundation funded entirely by our founder, Sam Sharma. Unlike public charities, we do not solicit or accept donations from the general public. This model allows us to focus completely on stewardship and impact rather than fundraising. Our Commitment to Accountability Even as a brand-new organization that has not yet made charitable distributions, we are committed to operating transparently from day one:Annual Form 990-PF available upon request Maximum resources directed to programs, grants, and services Full compliance with IRS private foundation regulations Annual distribution of at least 5% of assets for charitable purposesYou can read more on our transparency page. As our programs launch, we will report honestly on both our progress and our use of resources.

Partnering With Churches and Local Nonprofits in Florida

No foundation can serve a community alone. That is why, in these early months, one of our top priorities is building relationships with the churches, food banks, and nonprofits already doing good work across Florida. Why Partnerships Matter Local organizations understand their neighborhoods better than anyone. By partnering rather than duplicating, we can:Reach families who are already connected to trusted community groups Direct resources to where the need is greatest Avoid waste and unnecessary overhead Build programs that last beyond any single effortWhat We're Looking For We hope to establish partnerships with 25 local organizations as part of our 2026 goals. We are especially interested in groups focused on hunger relief, family assistance, veteran support, and faith-based community development. If your organization shares our mission, we would love to start a conversation. Together, we can do far more than any of us could alone.

How to Get Involved With The Giving Legacy

We are at the very beginning of our journey, and there is no better time to get involved. As we build toward launching our first programs, we are looking for people and organizations who share our heart for service. Ways to HelpVolunteer — Share your time and talents as we organize our first initiatives. Become a volunteer. Partner with us — If you represent a church, nonprofit, or community group, let's explore working together. Reach out. Spread the word — Tell friends and family about our mission. Awareness is one of the most valuable things you can offer a new foundation.Building Something Together Because we are just starting out, early supporters have a unique opportunity to help shape how we serve. Your involvement now will directly influence the programs we launch in 2026 and beyond. If you feel called to be part of this work, we would love to hear from you.

Why We Serve: Faith, Compassion, and Dignity

Everything we do flows from a simple conviction: every person is made in the image of God and deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion, and respect. The Values That Guide UsCompassion — We approach every person with empathy, recognizing their inherent worth regardless of circumstance. Integrity — We operate with transparency and accountability, stewarding every resource responsibly. Faith — Rooted in Christian principles, we serve as an expression of God's love while welcoming all people. Justice — We seek to address the root causes of poverty and inequality, not only their symptoms.Faith in Action For us, faith is not just something we believe—it is something we do. As we prepare to launch our first programs, these values shape every decision: which partners we work with, how we treat the people we serve, and how we measure success. We are a new foundation with a great deal of work ahead. But we are clear about why we serve, and that clarity will guide everything to come.

Looking Ahead: The Giving Legacy's Vision for 2027

Our first priority is to launch responsibly in 2026. But we are also planning for the years that follow, so that the work we begin can grow into lasting change. Our 2027 Vision Once our first initiatives are established, our 2027 goals are to:Expand hunger relief into additional Florida communities Grow family assistance and emergency support programs Deepen our support for veterans and military families Strengthen faith-based programs and youth developmentAs a private foundation, our work is funded by our founder rather than public solicitation. That model lets us focus entirely on impact and stewardship rather than fundraising. We want to be honest about where we are: these are plans and commitments for the future, not accomplishments. We will share real results as our programs launch and mature.
